Change is a process that takes place over a period of time. Rather than a destination, it is a journey and we'll make different stops along the way. It is a succession of experiences that are felt in the body, which I believe is the first indicator that change is happening. By paying attention to the physiological experiences and sensations in the body we can highlight the beginning of the change experience in the context of our lives.
Many folks motivated towards change wonder the answer to this question; you're insightful for thinking about this as well as the impact therapy can have on your life. When you come in, we will discuss your goals and hopes for therapy, and will continue to check in with you to make sure we're on the right track.
The short answer is this is an individual answer, because you're a unique, individual person!
I work with various approaches in therapy. CBT is helpful for many people; although I don't use it exclusively, I incorporate it into treatment, as it is relevant to you and your goals.
You do ― welcome! Therapy is for everyone, and is an opportunity for support, validation, exploration and learning about yourself, as well as your relationships with others.
Absolutely! I love working with the LGBTQ* community.
As a straight, cis, white female, I recognize that I come from a place of privilege. I work from a strength based approach and believe that people deserve to be respected, heard, seen and validated. I acknowledge that people from marginalized communities have lived experiences that do not always honour and celebrate who they are; if you choose to join me in therapy, I will work hard for you to feel respected, seen and heard.
Examples include addictions support, improved communication with partner(s), family members, friends or coworkers, mood changes (eg-anxiety and depression), survivors of trauma, anger management, stress management, emotional regulation, improved functioning at work, sex/sexuality, personal identity, self-esteem, self-awareness.
Therapy is a major commitment and investment in developing yourself and your future. I want to acknowledge you making this step to inquire and explore how therapy can make an impact on your life. Finding a good match for therapy is important, and I welcome you to contact me with any questions or concerns you have about joining me as your therapist, or about the therapy process.
I charge a rate of $120 + GST per hour for services.
Some private insurance companies will reimburse clients for therapy sessions. It is the responsibility of the client to know what their insurance coverage policies provide. Receipts are issued for both insurance and tax purposes.
Not at all ― I welcome individuals, relationships (of all kinds) and families.
As a Relational Therapist (MFT designation), I've completed 6 years in my Masters program exploring how systems inform the way we relate to ourselves as well as one another. For more information on this designation, please visit CAMFT.ca or AAMFT.org.
I am located in the Exchange District close to downtown Winnipeg.
I am offering both in-person sessions or online sessions at the preference of my clients.
If you choose to join me in my office, I ask that you please use the hand sanitizer in the waiting area. My office provides us with enough space to maintain distance, however until we are seated, I ask that we please wear masks. Once seated, at your request I will wear a mask for the duration of the session, and you may also choose to wear a mask, but this is not required.
The office space and waiting area are quite large; there is enough room for all participants to take space. I offer contactless payment via e-transfer if preferred to cash or cheque. The office space is cleaned daily. I encourage any questions or requests to make your visit more comfortable if you are considering in-person sessions.
No problem at all. I welcome you to reach out either by phone or email to book a 15-minute consultation, free of charge.
